Daimler AG Thursday said that fourth-quarter net income jumped to €1.7 billion ($2.47 billion) from a net loss of €12 million in the same period of 2006, driven by revived earnings momentum at its core Mercedes-Benz cars division.
Daimler's closely watched earnings before interest and tax, or EBIT, more than doubled to €1.39 billion in the fourth quarter from €550 million a year earlier. Analysts had expected fourth-quarter EBIT of €2.17 billion.
